Beum Family Line

Thomas Beum was born around 1770 in Falls River, Massachusetts. He married _____ Langford. Her brother, Jacob Langford, had Thomas's son, Isaac Thomas Beum, bound to him for about 15 years. _____ Langford remarried a man name DeWitt. It appears DeWitt moved to the Leavenworth, Kansas area and practiced dentistry. He died when his son Isaac was about three. They had three Children. There were two girls born to Thomas prior to Isaac. Information about them is unknown.

Isaac Thomas Beum married Matilda Robinson in 1841. She was the daughter of William Robinson. They had seven children including William Robinson Beum, Royal Thomas Beum, Martha Jane Beum, Stephen A. Douglass, Sarah Maria Beum, John Franklin, and Eva.

1.     Royal Thomas Beum was born 6/23/1849. He married Arabelle Walker, daughter of Simon and Catharine Walker. Their children include Alice Augusta, Corlin Oga, Agnes Atlanta, and Clarence O.

2.     Martha Jane Beum was born 5/28/1851. She married John C. Clark in 1883 and had two children. Florence Legatha was born 5/5/1885 and Mildred Agatha was born 12/8/1889.

3.     Eva was born 5/28/1857. She married Hugh Neal (11/15/1852) on 12/14/1874. Their four children include Georgia Virginia (3/20/1879), Jane Ruth (8/28/1876), Hugh Clinton (11/23/1881), and Marian Edith (10/29/1890). Marian married Burgess M. McManus on 11/19/1910 and had one daughter, Barbara Jean on 11/19/1913

4.     William Robinson Beum was born three miles north of Danville, Ohio on 4/13/1847. He was a carpenter and an auctioneer. He married Susan Matilda Snow, daughter of Elijah Snow on 2/11/1869. Among their eight children were twins who died in infancy, Edwin Mills, Harry Wilmer, Charles Noble, Winfred Rayburn, Walter Thomas, and Roscoe Douglas Snow (see William Robinson Beum below).

5.     John Franklin was born 7/30/1855. He married Lily Tuttle on 2/11/1877. Lily died 2/11/1887 and John passed away 12/18/1909. They had two children; Carrie (11/19/1878, died 6/7/1906?) who married John Evans 12/25/1896 and had two girls, Ruth in April 1900 and Leatha in April of 1905; and John Evans (12/25/1896).

2.     Edwin Mills was born 10/30/1870 in Danville, Ohio. He was a farmer, stock dealer, and an auctioneer. He married Cora Ellen Wheeler 1/1/1893. Their children were Roscoe Paul (3/2/1894), Ester Pearl (6/10/1896) - married James William Teeters on 6/15/1915. Freda Mildred (1/1/1898), and twins Cora Edna and Edwin Clair (7/12/1901).

3.     Harry Wilmer was born in Danville, Ohio 12/25/1873. He worked for the Illinois Central Railroad. Having never married, he died 12/12/1960.

4.     Charles Noble was born 12/13/1875 in Danville, Ohio. His occupation was working as a structural iron worker. He married Margaret Maloney 1/6/1902 in Minneapolis. Before his death in Minneapolis on 10/31/1919 they had two children; Lillis Margaret Maloney (2/23/1903) and William Harry (2/7/1905).

5.     Winfred Rayburn was born 4/3/1880 in Danville, Ohio. He was a mason, and carpenter, and a contractor. He married Gladys Russell of Chicago 9/6/1909. Gladys was born 3/3/1888. They had one son, Wayne R. (Robinson?).

6.     Walter Thomas Beum was born 10/18/1882 in Tekamah, Nebraska. He was a carpenter and died 10/15/1962 of cancer and a heart attack. On 12/10/1927 he married Doris Opal Trowbridge Clausen. Doris was born 8/22/1907 the daughter of Prosper Franklin Trowbridge and Mary Eliza Hull. (This family descended from Thomas Rutherford Trowbridge who came to New Haven, CT in 1636. I am searching for a genealogy published around 1912 by Francis Kellogg Trowbridge.) Prior to her marriage to Walter, Doris was married to ______ Clausen and had one son, Alfred “Fritz” Basil Clausen (8/11/1925). He married Norma Clare Henderson on 8/11/1946. Their children include: Michael Scott Clausen (10/10/1947 - drowned on 6/13/1956), Wendy Lynn (10/__/1948), Mark Thomas (11/__/1950), Christy Clare (3/21/1952), Leslie Marie (8/26/1953), Tammie Sue (3/3/1955), and Matthew Alfred (5/__/58). Children from the Walter/Doris marriage include Lillis Gene, Verah Georgia, Nada Elizabeth, Waletta, and Harriet Opal (see Walter Thomas Beum below).

7.     Roscoe Douglas Snow was born nine miles northeast of Tekamah, Nebraska (12/26/1886). He passed away 12/14/1901 from injuries suffered in a horse accident. He was 14y, 11m, and 19 days old.

1.     Lillis Gene Beum Thompson (8/27/1928) married Samuel Leroy Thompson (7/14/1913) on 2/26/1955. After unsuccessful pregnancies, Jason Andrew Fox Thompson (4/5/1969) was adopted 1/18/1971 from Gloria Jean Fox; who was married to Christine Marie Cooper (4/6/1976) of Springfield, IL. on 5/28/1996? and divorced on 7/2004?. Sam passed away 4/20/2006 from illness/automobile accident. Gene died 6/16/2007 after a lengthy fight with Alzheimer’s disease. They lived their lives on the farm where Sam was the third generation to work the land.

2.     Verah Georgia Beum Fox was born 3/21/1930. She married Marvin Fox 5/29/1951 and was divorced in 1973. Their children include Gloria Jean, Georgia, Gerald Lynn, Gwen Marie, and Gordon Rayburn.

§                    Gloria Jean Fox Siverly Raub was born 7/23/1952. She married William Siverly 7/6/1971. Their Children include Tonya Lee (1/29/74) who married Kevin Daniel Herrick 7/23/1994 – one child, Samuel Lee Herrick (9/10/99). Following their divorce, Gloria remarried Lane Lee Raub (6/3/1965) on 11/1/2005.

§                    Gwen Marie Roberts was born 6/12/1961. She married Raymond Matthew Bechtel 8/17/1979 (divorced 2/1985). This union had two children; Charles Matthew Bechtel (8/6/1977) - father of Emma Mare Bechtel (9/11/2001), and Nicholas Ray Bechtel (2/17/1980) - father of Lylian Mariedee Bechtel (11/5/2000). Gwen remarried Jeffrey Carl Robert on 2/15/1986. They have had two children; Jeremi Carl Roberts (2/1/87) - father of Lindzie Marie Roberts (11/25/2005), and Erin Michael Roberts (3/17/1989).

§                    Gordon Rayburn Beum married Brenda Burch 7/20/1985. Their children include: Justin Rayburn Fox (8/6/1986), Brandon Rayburn Fox (8/6/1989), and Chelsey Dyann Fox (4/10/1992). Gordon remarried Christy Shaver 12/7/2006.

3.     Nada Elizabeth Shadonix was born 1/3/1933. She married Dale U. Shadonix (3/10/29) 1/27/1952. Their children include Thomas Dale, Jeannie Sue, Mary Elizabeth, William Andrew, and Julie Ann.

§                    Thomas Dale Shadonix was born 12/12/1952. He married Anna Majors 9/24/76. Anna had one daughter prior to the marriage (Angelina Majors). Following the divorce in 1980, Tom remarried Collene Randleman (2/25/__) on 6/12/82. Collene had one son prior to this marriage who was adopted by Tom, Billy Randleman Shadonix. This marriage ended in divorce and Tom remarried Denise Middleton 2/9/1995. Denise brought five children into the marriage including Shawna Leigh Middleton (12/23/73), Matthew Lawerence Middleton (9/21/78), Amanda Jane Middleton (1/23/1980) - mother of Lily Rosetta Greenwood (12/16/1999); Jessica Anne Middleton (6/20/1985), and Marc Andrew Middleton (8/1/1987).

§                    Jeanne Sue Baird married Randy Alan Sweeney (11/21/1951) on 6/23/73. They have two sons Arron Todd Sweeney (3/23/1977) and Joshua Daniel Sweeney (2/24/1985). Jeanne remarried Dave Charles Baird (8/12/1951) on 6/6/1998.

§                    Mary Elizabeth Gruwell (8/26/1955) married Dennis Wayne Gruwell (8/12/1953) on 8/20/1977. They have two children who have married including Timothy Scott Gruwell (6/29/1979), married to Sheree, and Christopher Alan Gruwell (1/8/1982), married to Joni (9/5/1980) on 7/26/2003.

§                    William “Bill” Andrew Shadonix (10/27/1956) married Joni Lynn Payne (1/19/1959) on 12/22/1979. Bill is a fifth grade teacher at Brookwood Elementary in Leawood, Kansas. He has been listed in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers three times and was a Wal-Mart Teacher of the year in 2006. Joni has worked for K.M.E.A. since 1997. They have three sons including Jason Andrew Shadonix (10/23/1981), Matthew Scott Shadonix (7/23/1984) – married to Cara Jane Leiblie (11/2/1980) on 2/22/2006 and father of Jay Scott Shadonix (3/7/2006), and Stephen William Shadonix (8/5/1989).

§                    Julie Shadonix (10/12/1957) married John Meyer (11/3/1955) on 10/5/1991. They have two children including Samuel Victor Meyer 5/15/1993 and Abigail Elizabeth Meyer 1/21/1996.

4.     Waletta Beum Elske was born 11/29/1936. She married Duane Elske 1/20/1951 and divorced 8/1976. They have five children including Marsha Kay, Debra Lynn, Richard Allen, and twins Michelle Lynne and Michael Lyn.

§                    Marsha Kay Elske (6/6/1952) married Rick Johnson in 1978 and had a son, Joshua Johnson in 1981. She remarried Joe Mitchell in 2006.

§                    Debra Lynn (9/__/1957) married Greg L. Rosenboom 10/24/1981. They have three children including Molly Lynn 1983, (mother of Charlie Baker 2003 and Carter Lee Rosenboom 2006), Kelsey Jo 1986, and Zachary Glen 1990.

§                    Richard Elske (12/__/1959) married Jane 11/25/78. They have three daughters. Meggan Marie 7/31/79 (married Andrew Booth 6/24/2000; three sons – Read Newton 3/26/2003, Caden Elske 11/6/2005, and Jessen Duane 5/1/07), Mandyn Joy 11/17/1980 (married Brad Pruess 12/31/2005; one daughter, Halle Loine 7/7/2002 and one child due 9/14/2007), and Amber Elizabeth 5/24/1983 to marry Richard Nun 2/1/2008.

5.     Harriet Opal Beum (2/1/1948) married Richard Keith Litel 8/26/1967. They are divorced. They have three children including Christina Marie, Catherine Suzanne, and Stephen Andrew.

§                    Christina “Tina” Litel Eden (8/14/1969) married Jonathan Anthony Eden (7/12/1974) on 3/7/2003. They have two children; Amelia Marie Elise 3/19/2004 and Zoe Anna Rachel 8/15/2005.

§                    Catherine “Cassie” Suzanne Fullerton (4/20/1974) married Mark Christopher Fullerton on 5/27/2000. They have one child Emma Sophia Fullerton 5/5/2003.

§                    Stephen Andrew Litel (6/21/1980) married Angela Lynn Schulz Litel (9/2/1981) on 8/9/2003. They are divorced. They have two children; Ethan Topher 12/2/2003 and Alexandra Amber 5/23/2005.
